Dan Weiland (United States)

History:

I was born and raised in Vail Colorado.
Growing up I spent a considerable amount of time on the snow.
In High School I began competing in Cross Country Skiing. I went on to win a Junior National Championship in 1991 and had numerous top five finishes the following years.
After High School I made a short bid on the University of Colorado Ski Team, but found education to be more important than training and racing.  Soon after college, I was bitten by the endurance bug, this time in the form of off-road triathlon.

After a top twenty finish at the World Championships in Maui I was asked to compete in my first adventure race.  Mike Kloser and Sara Ballantyne dragged me through the woods in Oregon.  We ended up winning that race and the rest is history.  I have never finished worse than 2nd place in any race that I have teamed up with Mike Kloser.  He is an exceptional mentor and I look forward to the challenge of Explore Sweden with him and the other teammates.
