Explore Sweden Airborne Expedition Adventure Race.
Stretch your body and mind beyond all limits, and live the ultimate challenge, for your team the individual and your soul.
Explore Sweden will be the toughest expedition race for adventure racers who will explore the golden nuggets of Swedish nature.
You will discover the best of Sweden, venture the highest mountains, concur the wildest highlands and experience the incredible archipelago. Parts of the race will take you above the polar circle in the land of the midnight sun, where the sun never sets.

June 2nd - 7th, 2004
Where and how
From South to North, from East to West, tree secret destinations with transport by aircraft between. The race includes "flight zones" which means four flights, with two critical cut offs. If you're not on time, you miss the plane and you are out of the game.
This race is not for beginners.

REGISTRATION
The registration camp has been moved. The registration will be held at Hampnäs, outside Örnsköldsvik. Check out the registration camp at www.hampnas.nu
Hampnäs is situated 7 km from the city of Örnsköldsvik, on the Swedish east coast about 600 km north of Stockholm. We have changed the registration location so that all the international teams that will come before the race will have easier to train and prepare for the race, closer to the nature.
At the registration you will have free access to 20 computers that you can use before and after the race. We will send out more information with suggestions of where to stay if you are arriving long before the race, proportion of good training, places where you can rent kayaks and so on before the race. This information will be sent to you a month before the race starts.
The registration starts June 1, and it is obligatory for all teams to stay at Explore Sweden registartion camp from May 31. We will provide accommodation and food for all teams, from 18:00, May 31 until the race start.
During the race, the teams are self supported. We will also provide accommodation and food after the race, until the morning of June 8. See the complete time-schedule below.
PRICE CEREMONY The price ceremony will be held in the evening of June 7. Teams that leave before the price ceremony will lose their place in ranking and their price money. Transport to the airport will be on the June 8.
AIR TRAVEL
Arrival:
The nearest airport will be Ornskoldsvik airport. It's a 50 minute flight from Arlanda, Stockholm airport. We will pick you up at the airport, and after the race escort you back to the airport. Just let us know when you are arriving.
You can book domestic at www.scandinavian.net unless you book the whole flight directly through your travel agency.

CARS
If you travel by car to the Explore Sweden registration camp, Hampnäs, you can leave it there when you are racing. We have arranged free parking during the whole time you are staying.
We will from the last destination (the finish line), transport you back to Hampnäs where you will have accomondation after the race.
If you are arriving by air, you won't have to rent a car, because the distance to the city and stores are not longer than a bike ride. The organisation will arrange trips with buses, for those of you who want to go to the sports stores and supermarkets. These trips will depart twice a day. You will get the bus schedule when you arrive to Hampnäs.
DESTINATIONS
The three destinations will be secret up until the start. We can just inform you that you will discover different terrain and landscape that Sweden can show.
