FAQ

Q: Do we need long john wetsuits with neoprene socks?
A: Yes, the water is cold in Sweden and there will be a long swimming section in open sea.

Q: Is the Rubbermaid Action Packer ( 182 litre), allowed as the team bag/ box?
A: Yes.

Q: Is the cell phone, provided by race organisation for international teams?
A: No, you have to have your own cell phone. You can get a good cell phone in Sweden for 30 USD.

Q: Is the fuel to the Stove provided by the Explore Sweden Organisers?
A: Yes we will provide the mandatory gas for the mountaineering section.

Q: Climatic temperatures to be expected on various course?
A: 5-20 degrees Celsius.

Q: Do we need mountain bike front white lights?
A: It is not mandatory with front bike lights. The mandatory headlamp is enough. It will be dark only for 3 hours.

Q: Please clarify the rule regarding - 1 Mountain boots with hard sole "Vibram", over the ankle support. Suitable for crampons. High running shoes are not allowed.
A: The rule is set regarding the technical level on the mountaineering section, with traversing big glaciers, steep climbing and exposed ridge traversing in a very high and rocky area. The level on this section is set regarding the level on the athletes capacitate. If the teams mountain boot don't fit the rule, every pair that's not get approved at the registration will have a 1 hour penalty. We will allow: Montrail Storm GTX, Salomon Pro Tec 5. This shoe is in the limit zone. No lighter then this.

Q: Are we to have 5 gear boxes in the race and anadditional 4 bike boxes?
A: 5 boxes/ bags + 4 bike boxes. But you will only need 4 big boxes, the last box can be small, like 50 litre.

Q: Regarding the rule- 1 Long sleeve fleece top, minimum 200 g.
A: Clarification, the fleece has to weigh 200g, but no rule that it has to be a 200 fleece thickness.

Q: How long does the plane wait for after the first team has arrived?
A: The time for the departure is set. You will know the time, when the airplane leave before starting the destination. The course is build to make the leaders wait in 2-4 hours, depending how fast they are.

Q: Do we have to have long john wetsuits - we prefer full body wetsuits - can we use them?
A: Yes, they will be all right.

Q: Clarify the bike boxes. Is each person allowed 1-bike box in the race? are the Tri ALL 3Sports boxes acceptable?
A: Yes, we will allow them.

Q: Will an Esbit stove with fuel tabs qualify as the stove?
A: No. It´s mandatory to have a stove to a gas bottle, We will supply the gas.

Q: The sleeping bag-500g, is that the fill weight, or the total weight of the bag?
A: 500g is the total weight of the bag.

Q: Cup/Buff - Is that Buff headgear?
A: Yes, Buff the headgear or Beanie.

Q: Prussic loop, 150 cm in circumference?
A: 150 cm, hole length untied.

Q: The container (minimum 1 liter) what is is for?
A: It´s mandatory to bring stove, gas and a container on the mountaineering section. It´s for the teams to boil water if one teammember is very cold (hypothermia). It´s for your safety.

Q: 2 pumps (bike section) per team... is autoinflation system okay instead?
A: Yes

Q: Are poles allowed for use with the inline skating?
A: Yes, but they have to be telescope model, because they have to fit in the team's bag/box.

Q: What does water protection for the sleeping bags mean? If the sleeping bag has a water resistant outer, is this sufficient?
A: The sleeping bag in itself does not to have to be water resistant, but you have to protect the bag, because you will do some swimming.

Q: Also, it states neoprene socks for the swimming, are neoprene boots as used for whitewater kayaking also okay?
A: Yes they would be ok.

Q: Are "light" ice axes ok?
A: Yes, we will aprove race ice axes if they are at least 50 cm, with leash.

Q: Will there be any ride & run?
A: No, we will cancel this section during this years race.
